Once upon a time there was a little girl named Starr. She loved every Disney princess movie and would sing every song in her sweet little toddler voice. She always dreamed of finding her Prince Charming ... but she never found him... Not at school... Not at church... Not in Florida ... And then one day after graduation, she moved to Michigan to help take care of her Great Grandpa Art. She found a job and decided to stay there until God showed her His plans for her ...
Last year, she finally found her Prince in Michigan! In fairy-tale fashion, he swept her off her feet, and they got married on May 19, 2018 - the date of England's Royal Wedding (Prince Harry and Meghan) - While we attended our own Royal Wedding that day, the wedding of Princess Starr!
Bryce was thrilled to go on another airplane and vacation. We flew into Milwaukee, Wisconsin for two reasons: 1. Direct flight with Bryce and 2. State number 44 on my list of states to visit
Chris' Wisconsin "must do" was trying their famous cheese curds. Mine was seeing Lambeau Field. Bryce just wanted to be on vacation with Mommy and Daddy. We made it all happen on our drive toward the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
The weather was lovely - nice and cool with no humidity. We fell in love with the little town of Munising - the scenery and the people! Lots of waterfalls, soft sandy beaches, nature paths, majestic cliffs, and Bryce got to make a snowball at the beach! The town is quaint and friendly. The Falling Rock Cafe + Bookstore was a favorite spot for us. Local musicians gathered to play and sing together, acoustic style. It was so enjoyable to sit and listen to them while enjoying a delicious chocolate malt shake. We would love to return in the fall to see the autumn tree colors and take the Pictured Rocks Boat Tour.
We were amazed at how the community came together for Starr and Kenny's wedding! People provided food for the reception which was held at the Ice Rink, the largest location in town to accommodate so many guests. It was quite a spread! Our little Princess was treated with such royalty on her special day! She looked so beautiful in her long white dress. Her long, dark hair was slightly pulled up and softly curled. Her choices for her forest-themed decorations were the perfect way to include her favorite color, forest green. Papaw Mike performed her ceremony which was extra special. Her cousin, Jessica, was able to come up for the wedding. Her cousin, Haley, was strapped into her seat on the plane when her flight was cancelled. It was the only hint of disappointment in the air. Thankfully, the church was able to stream the wedding live on the Internet which allowed the family in Florida, Alabama, and Michigan who could not attend the ceremony still be a part of her special day.
My heart was especially happy as I listened to Kenny pray with Starr before their wedding. As they joined hands - back to back - from each side of the wall, he prayed God's blessings on their marriage. Knowing that they are building their relationship with God as their foundation gives me peace and joy for their marriage. She is such a sweet Christian girl who has always wanted to find the man God created for her. May God always bless their home with laughter, love, and unending grace.
I have invested a lot of time and love into my precious niece the past twenty-two years. We have had many "special times", travel trips to Disney + NYC, many hours of tutoring, and LOTS of happy memories. I was sad when she moved away to Michigan but wanted her to follow God's plan for her life. I can see now that He knew exactly where to take her to find her Prince.
And may they always put God first in their marriage ... and live happily ever after! The End.
