I just saw that our last blog post was in September 2019! Yikes! I guess we will chalk that up to the craziness called "2020". We have only had a handful of family photo sessions this year due to COVID-19, but we wanted to travel wisely this year for autumn nature pictures.
We visited North Dakota in June for my birthday (state#49) and decided to go ahead and complete my goal of visiting all 50 states with an epic visit to Colorado! We stayed in small towns and spent a lot of time driving and hiking - not around too many people. We were able to feel safe and social distance very well 95% of the time. When we couldn't avoid it, we sanitized exceptionally well.
Adding to the 2020 craze, Colorado had a very terrible "fire season" that threatened Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. This resulted in a change of plans for us to head south instead of north upon our arrival into Denver. We stopped to visit the "Garden of the Gods" in Colorado Springs on our way down to Hotel#1 in Alameda, Co. We had an early flight from Orlando and gained two hours of daylight. It made for an extra long day but provided a great start to our amazing trip! It was fun to have our cameras out for some nature photography - not the autumn scenes that we would begin to capture the following day but a different kind of timeless beauty. It's truly incredible to see how God created these HUGE rocks and the formations that have developed over time. I personally call it "God's Garden". ☺ Bryce didn't really care for the rocks ... But when he took interest in the two black birds he heard chirping on a large rock high above us, I wanted to capture a memory for him for our scrapbook. I was able to snap it just as they shared a little kiss (Love Birds).
Bryce loves airplanes and was thrilled about our flight to Denver. The United airline pilots let Bryce sit in the Captain's seat on both of our flights while the co-pilots so kindly answered all of Bryce's questions about how to fly the planes. Bryce was a little too comfortable in the Captain's seat on the return flight - We had to hurry and get him out, so we could begin the flight to Florida on time! We are always so grateful for the kind people in our lives who create extra special moments for our boy and his interests.
